Coronation Street first look as Yasmeen faces court after trying to kill abusive husband Geoff – The Sun

CORONATION Street's Yasmeen will appear in court during tonight's episode after she tried to kill her abusive husband Geoff.

The chef – who is played by actress Shelley King in the popular ITV soap – was left horrified last week when she was told that she was being charged attempted murder despite acting in self defence.

During tonight's episode, the judges will come to a decision on whether she will be released on bail.

Luckily Yasmeen is not alone in the court room as Imran Habeeb is legally representing her.

She also has the loving support from her granddaughter Alya Nazir, Ryan Connor and Toyah Battersby as they watch on from the public gallery.

But it looks like not everyone is on her side as Tim Metcalfe, who is joined by wife Sally, wants Yasmeen to get what she deserves after trying to kill his dad.

Corrie fans have watched in horror as Yasmeen has been cut off from her friends and family, belittled and abused by her husband over the past year.

Geoff's abuse came to a nasty head last week when he watched her pack a bag to leave him on his hidden security camera.

After cruelly forcing her to open the cupboard door where she’d kept her bag, he merrily marched into the garden and burnt her belongings in a bin.

Later in the week, Geoff launched at Yasmeen with a knife during a furious showdown and she lashed out at Geoff with a bottle in self defence which led to him ending up in hospital.

Sair Khan (Alya Nazir) has warned that she neither her or her grandmother will be happy with the results of the court hearing.

She revealed: "Alya is truly shocked at Yasmeen being denied bail.

"She'd held onto hope that the truth would come out and justice would be served. She now realises that this is just the beginning of a long fight. She's angered but not surprised by Tim's reaction. The battle lines have been firmly drawn.

"Alya will stop at nothing to make sure the residents of Coronation Street find out what Geoff is really like. Her first plan is to find allies and she may just have found one in Sally."

Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
