Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd's neighbour's home raided by gang of five

CORRIE veteran Jack P Shepherd was caught up in a home invasion ordeal when a gang of five raiders targeted one of his neighbours.

The yobs forced their way into a family home just yards from where David Platt actor Jack, 32, lives with his 31-year-old girlfriend Hanni Treweek.

The father of the house clambered on to the roof to escape the raiders.

He was rescued by the police and firefighters and was treated later in hospital for minor injuries.

Neighbours were shaken by the attempted raid which took place in a suburb near Manchester’s Northern Quarter at around 7.30pm on Thursday.

One witness said: “It was terrifying.

“It has left everyone on edge. It’s just not something that we are used to seeing around here.

“Every area can have its problems but this area just hasn’t been like that until now and I don’t feel safe here anymore.

“I’ve got my young daughter to think of.”

Police yesterday confirmed the incident.

In a statement, they said: “Police were called at around 7.30pm on Thursday, September 24, to a report of an attempted burglary at a property in Manchester.

“Unknown offenders attempted to gain entry to a property before leaving the scene.

“Emergency services attended and a man attended hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokeswoman for Jack said the actor could not be reached.

Jack, a Corrie veteran for 20 years, and Hanni, who works behind the scenes, have been together for three years.

He has two children with his ex-girlfriend, Lauren Shippey, and a son from a fling in 2010.
