Catherine’s co-stars were quick to comment below, with Lisa George — who plays Beth Tinker in Corrie — said: ‘I do want to do my hair pink!!!’.

Helen Flanagan added: ‘I LOVE IT’, while EastEnders’ Emma Barton — who featured alongside Catherine in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing — said: ‘Gorgy.’

Catherine is the latest in a lengthy list of soap stars who have changed their hairstyles amid lockdown.

Corrie’s Alexandra Mardell previously dyed her hair purple, before revealing earlier this week that she’d changed it to blue, while Lucy Fallon dyed her hair bright peach.

Tina O’Brien — who plays Sarah Platt on the soap — went for pink.

Imran Habeeb actor Charlie de Melo shaved his head, as did Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden, Alexander Lincoln and Danny Miller.

Corrie was forced to halt production in March amid the Coronavirus pandemic, and in an effort to keep it on air for as long as possible, the remaining episodes are being rationed out at three a week, instead of the usual six.

Coronation Street continues Friday 24 April at 7:30pm on ITV.
