Corries Millie Gibson to battle real-life homelessness after characters plight

Coronation Street star Millie Gibson has revealed she wants to become an angel for the real-life homeless.

The actress who plays Kelly Neelan in the soap has been caught up in a plotline that saw her on the streets.

Her character ended up with nowhere to live and facing dangerous situations without a home following her release from prison.

She had been sent down over her involvement in Seb Franklin’s killing earlier this year.

Millie has worked with the charities Shelter and The Children’s Society, and she was so shocked by the horrors faced by homeless people that she wants to go and help them out.

The Corrie star said: “I hope to get round there to meet people and see their work.

“You just can’t imagine the situation especially this time of year, it’s so cold.”

Millie claims some of the tales she heard were so shocking that they still haunt her.

She added: “It was so heartbreaking.

“Hidden homeless are often women, a mum of three was still homeless after three years.

“And many are in similar situations to Kelly and another I found out about is seven months pregnant. It’s so sad to see children growing up in this world. There’s no justice.”

Earlier this month the actress wowed fans as she glammed up for a festive photoshoot.

Millie looked completely different from how she usually appears on the show as she posed alongside a huge, brightly lit Christmas tree in a gold-buttoned black dress.

The dress featured long sleeves and padded shoulders and matched perfectly with the black newsboy cap Millie wore.

She matched the look with black-spotted tights and shiny black buckled shoes, letting her blonde hair fall to frame her face as she grinned at the camera.

She hilariously captioned the festive snap: "Ahh atheism."

Millie's fans and co-stars immediately hopped into the comments section to show the 16-year-old some love.

Elle Mulvaney, best known for playing Amy Barlow in Corrie, simply posted a fire emoji, while Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan) wrote: "I'm your biggest fan."

Sally Carman, who plays Abi Webster on the cobbles, penned: "You look beautiful."
