Friends super fan David Beckham has revealed that the show helps to cheer him up whenever he is away from home missing wife Victoria and their four children.

During a guest appearance in Friends: The Reunion, former footballer David opens up about his love of the hit sitcom and why it is so special to him.

The 46-year-old says: “You know I travel a lot and I’m always in hotels, I’ve always got down time.”

The star, who is dad to Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper with the former Spice Girl, continues: “When I’m missing the kids, when I’m missing the family, I put on Friends because it makes me smile.”

David then spills on the episodes that never fail to entertain him, sharing that one in particular has a very special place in his heart – The One Where No One’s Ready, which features in season three.

In the documentary, which airs on Sky One and NOW in the UK from today, he explains: “Ross is hurrying everyone up because he has a huge speech to make and he’s nervous.”

David continues: “When Chandler goes to the toilet, Joey sits in Chandler’s chair and when he comes back it all escalates.”

Saying that it stands out to him, David adds with a grin: “It’s one of those episodes that when I’m away and I’m feeling a little bit low, I put it on and it makes me smile – almost to the point of crying.”

Later in the show, David is asked which famous Friend he thinks he is most like, to which he replies: “I would have to say I’m most like Monica because I’m a clean freak!”

However, David isn’t the only famous face to pop up in the much-anticipated reunion show, hosted by Brit presenter James Corden and starring the cast, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.

Former stars of the show, including Reese Witherspoon, also have their say on why they’re so happy that Friends is on their impressive CV’s.

Plus, the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, BTS, Mindy Kaling and Kit Harington all get involved in the fun to celebrate seventeen years since the show came to a memorable close.

Elsewhere in the show, Lisa Kudrow, much-loved for her role as Phoebe Buffay, rules out the idea of the cast making a movie in the future.

The actress explains: “That’s all up to [the show’s creators] Marta [Kaufmann] and David [Crane]. And I once heard them say – and I completely agree – that they ended the show very nicely.”

“They would have to unravel all of those good things in order for there to be stories – I don’t want anyone’s happy ending unravelled.”
