But it won’t be long before things turn sour between the siblings as a secret from their past threatens to rise from the surface.

And next week’s episodes of Emmerdale will see Moira sit Mackenzie down for a deep chat.

When Mackenzie tries to wriggle out of it, she tells him he needs to hear what she’s about to say.

What dark secret is she about to reveal and will it repair their broken relationship?

Later, after Mackenzie leaves, viewers will see Moira sobbing alone.

When Cain spots Mackenzie in the village, he squares up to him and tells him if he ever sees him here again he’ll be leaving in a body bag.

Meanwhile, Rhona tries to support Moira and tells her she’s always there if she needs her.

But the pair are soon interrupted by Cain, who starts raging about Mackenzie.

Moira is quick to warn Cain to leave her brother alone.

Is Mackenzie about to cause some trouble?

Speaking about Mackenzie’s arrival in the village, Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson revealed: "We've got Moira’s brother Mackenzie arriving and of course he is coming with a secret, that you think that you are going to find out, and then there is going to be another revelation a little further down the line."

She added: “He is a troublemaker. He’s good looking, he turns heads and he is gonna mess things up with the Tates, and he’s gonna mess things up for the Dingles.

“He is a real force to be reckoned with.”

Speaking about joining the soap, actor Lawrence Robb – who will play MacKenzie – said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be moving into Emmerdale village as 'MacKenzie’.

"I have had so much fun playing around with the character already, and to do it in Britain's most famous village is just the cherry on top.

"I couldn’t be further from ‘Mac’ in real life, so playing him will no doubt have its challenges, but I’m more than up for the ride! I can’t wait to don my wellies and wreak some havoc.”
