Emmerdale's Michelle Hardwick packs her hospital bag as she prepares to give birth to first child with Kate Brooks

EMMERDALE star Michelle Hardwick has packed her hospital bag in preparation for her new baby.

The soap star is expecting her first child with Emmerdale producer wife Kate Brooks.

The star wrote on Twitter: "Well that’s the hospital bag packed. Just incase…"

The 42-year-old, who plays Vanessa Woodfield on the soap, shares a stunning home with wife Kate and their dog Fred, after moving in July 2018.

The couple married a year ago at Graceland in America after eloping together.

Michelle posted a throwback snap recently and a picture showing her bump. She captioned it: "What a difference a year makes!

"Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary to my soulmate, best friend and beautiful wife. Here’s to the next chapter Brooksy. We love you so much  #fredlooksthrilled #countingdowntheweeks."

Back in April Michelle and Kate took to Instagram to announce their baby news with a picture of Kate holding their dog Fred and pointing at Michelle's baby bump.

She wrote: "Fred's big brother duties commence in October #BabyBrooks."

The couple got engaged in December 2018 after Michelle spent months planning the proposal.

The actress took to Instagram to share the happy news at the time, writing: "So after months of planning, I popped the question!!! She said yes!!!

"#loveislove #noordinaryproposal."

Michelle has played Vanessa in Emmerdale since 2012, while Kate is a producer on the soap.

They confirmed the romance on National Coming Out Day, with Michelle sharing a picture of the pair with rainbow emojis.

She captioned the sweet snap: "It will all work out in the end."

However Michelle previously admitted she was too scared to hold Kate's hand in public amid fears of homophobia.

Michelle spoke publicly about being a lesbian for the first time in July 2013 confirming that she was in a long term relationship with music teacher Rosie Nicholl at the time.

The couple became engaged on December 31, 2013, and married on April 4, 2015.

But in 2017, Michelle announced they were set to divorce.
