Game of Thrones prequel series The Hedge Knight ordered at HBO

House of the Dragon: Trailer for Game of Thrones prequel

Following the groundbreaking success of Game Of Thrones and its spin-off House of The Dragon, it looks like fans are getting another adventure series to sink their teeth into. This week HBO confirmed that a prequel called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is officially moving forward.

A Game of Thrones prequel based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg has officially been given the green light by HBO.

The news was announced this week, during Warner Bros. Discover presentation to Press and Investors.

With the announcement, it was also revealed that two streaming services, HBO Max and Discovery+, would be combined and will be known simply as Max.

It has been a little over two years since Variety first reported that the series was in development at HBO.

The series is currently titled  A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight and is set to follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) 90 years prior to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire.

The announcement also came with a brief description, giving fans a hint at what to expect from the upcoming prequel.

The show’s official description read: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naive, but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.

“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
