Gino D’Acampo rules out I’m A Celebrity return

Gino explains why he won’t return to I’m A Celebrity

The great and good of I’m A Celebrity have returned to the show for the new series in South Africa.

However, 2009 King Of The Jungle Gino D’Acampo has ruled himself out of a surprise appearance in the show, which will see someone crowned I’m A Celebrity Legend.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the celebrity chef and Family Fortunes host was quizzed about the possibility he will pop up on the show.

He was quick to dismiss the idea although he did confirm he had been approached to be on the programme.

Explaining his reasons for declining the offer he said: “I won in 2009!

“When you have a such a great experience, you don’t want to do it again because I don’t want to be a disappointment the second time.

“So, I thought, you know what I had such a great time,” he continued.

“I just want to leave my memory just the way it is.”

After three weeks in the jungle Gino beat TV cleaner Kim Woodburn into second place and snooker player Jimmy White into third back in 2009.

At the time he said: “This is fantastico! These three weeks have been crazy, up and down.

“I don’t think there’s ever been a day when I’ve thought, ’what am I doing here, I should be at home doing something else’ I really enjoyed every bit of the experience.”

The win elevated him from TV chef to bona fide personality in his own right and he has gone on to front many shows.

However last month he sensationally quit popular ITV show, Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.’

He broke the news to his Instagram followers citing contractual problems.
