Gogglebox stars hit back at claims they're breaking social distancing rules
Gogglebox family The Malones have been forced to defend themselves after viewers accused the show of breaking social distancing guidelines.
Over the past few weeks, the Channel 4 show has received backlash from fans who have accused certain stars of not listening to the government’s advice on social distancing.
And despite a Channel 4 narrator stating before the programme started that they were adhering to the guidelines, viewers still weren’t happy about it.
But The Malone family felt the need to defend themselves, reassuring fans that they are adhering to the government’s guidelines.
‘Just going to put this out there, so we are all up to date, I know the social distancing rules too,’ they tweeted.
Hundreds more echoed their cries and Channel 4 were been forced to explain: ‘Most of the families live together but where they don’t, they are complying with PHE [Public Health England] social distancing guidelines.
‘Gogglebox will only film with families where it’s safe to do so. The health and safety of our cast and crew is paramount.’
The current coronavirus pandemic has meant the UK has been in lockdown for five weeks, wit members of different households not supposed to mix or visit each other’s houses.
Gogglebox returns on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
