Greece quarantine: Furious tourism minister savages UK’s ‘mixed bag’ of safe travel orders

People arriving into Scotland and Wales from Greece will have to self-isolate for 14 days despite fairly low levels of coronavirus cases reported in the country. There are concerns over what impact this could have on Greece’s holiday industry. Harry Theoharis, the Tourism Minister for Greece, warned BBC Breakfast that this may have been the wrong move.

He said: “The latest news is a mixed bag in the sense that England did not change the rules.

“Every country has a right to protect their citizens the best way they see fit.

“There’s no doubt about that.

“What we’re saying and what we’re maintaining is that according to the rules that the UK has said, the 20 cases in the last week per 100,000 population, we’re well below that.”
