Harry Potter fans floored as they spot Tracy Beaker’s Dani Harmer in first film

It wasn’t a secret that Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer had had a background role in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, but it took some serious sleuthing from one fan to manage to find her among the sea of student faces.

Rewatching the mega-popular movie franchise, the viewer was thrilled when they managed to pick the beloved child star out of a crowd.

Wearing her black witch’s hat and Hogwarts school robes, Dani, now 32, sat alongside the Weasley boys Ron, Fred and George at the dinner table in the Great Hall.

Quidditch captain Oliver Wood also sat directly beside her.

The actress is best-known for playing the beloved Tracy Beaker on the BBC since 2002, and finally returns to the role as a grown-up mother herself for a new sequel this month.

But seeing two of their favourite book adaptations collide – Tracy Beaker was written by Jacqueline Wilson and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling – saw many fans struggling to comprehend.

Initially sharing their findings, the first viewer wrote: “I think I found @DaniHarmer in Harry Potter and the Philosophers stone, she is behind Oliver Wood after Hermione speaks."

The fan’s incredible spying skills prompted Dani herself to confirm it, as she retweeted the post captioned: “Yep there I am!”

One person replied: “How many times have I watched this film and never noticed omg.”

"Omg! I remember reading years ago that you were in it but I've never been able to spot you before! You look so young here!" another exclaimed.

A third cried: “This blows my MIND.”

When My Mum Tracy Beaker launches onto screens this week, Tracy is a far cry from The Tracy Beaker Survival Files, which was her last appearance back in 2021.

Now in her 30s with a 10-year-old daughter called Jess (played by Emma Maggie Davies), the series follows the pair as Tracy embarks on a relationship with her childhood friend Sean, who is now a professional footballer.

The new series airs in three parts, and has been adapted from original author Jacqueline’s book release of the same name in 2018.

My Mum Tracy Beaker airs on CBBC and BBC iPlayer on February 12
