Hollyoaks Sid Sumner’s death confirmed as Billy Price exits Channel 4 soap
Hollyoaks aired emotional scenes on Wednesday evening which confirmed Sid Sumner's tragic death.
The young lad was stabbed to death by evil drug lord Victor Brothers (Benjamin O'Mahony) in dramatic scenes aired during Tuesday's first-look episode.
Sid had been working undercover as one of Victor's dealers in order to expose the county lines operation.
Following the death of his cousin Jordan Price, Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) and Charlie Dean's (Charlie Behan) arrest and losing his leg, Sid decided enough was enough and it was time for Victor to be exposed.
Sid managed to get a recording of Victor confessing his crimes but the evil villain stabbed him just before he got the police station in heartbreaking scenes.
Chatting to Daily Star about Sid's dramatic exit, actor Billy explained: "I’ve had to keep it a secret. I couldn’t post any stuff online.
"It was sad to film but I've had my fair few scenes laying on the cold, wet ground in Hollyoaks so I got used to the treacherous conditions.
"There was also something nice about the scene and the end of Sid's journey."
He added: "I've been living Sid for the past 18 months and I feel he made his mark on the village with the radicalisation and county lines storylines.
"He’s a very relatable character with all audience members."
Billy, 20, joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Sid back in May 2019 and he's become a firm favourite among fans ever since.
He initially appeared as part of the Channel 4 soap's high profile far-right extremism storyline in a guest role but was promoted to a series regular after it concluded when the producers began to plot a year-long county lines drug trafficking storyline.
Sid's notable storylines include his adoption by Leela Lomax (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), a relationship and later friendship with Juliet and becoming an amputee after his leg is ran over by Peri Lomax (Ruby O'Donnell) while he is under the influence of ketamine.
Billy admitted that he wanted to make sure he got the county lines storyline right and took part in research groups ahead of filming.
He said: "I felt pressure to get it right. It’s a shame because we had to rush scenes with Sid loosing his leg and we couldn’t do it how we wanted to do it because of restrictions.
