Hollyoaks viewers horrified as Edward frames Tony for Diane’s brutal attack
Hollyoaks villain Edward Hutchinson (Joe McGann) was back up to his evil tricks during the latest visit to the village.
The evil doctor panicked that his malicious secrets were about to be unraveled during Monday's E4 first-look episode and took drastic action to silence Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher) and framed his son Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) in the process.
Diane finally learnt the truth about evil Edward in the dramatic episode after Verity (Eva O'Hara) exposed her lying father.
Verity told Diane that Edward had been telling malicious lies in a bid to split up her and Tony, and that her dad was morphing her into her late mother.
Edward was gobsmacked when Diane stormed towards him holding a picture of her dead wife Charlotte.
After a blazing argument with Edward, Diane went to make amends with Tony but he was fast asleep in the caravan.
Diane was unable to wake up her estranged husband and she started shouting about Edward's behaviour in a bid to wake him up.
However, things took a dark turn as Edward crept up behind his lover and whacked her over the head with his briefcase.
As Tony began to wake up, Edward made a swift exit and tactfully placed a metal pole on the floor.
Tony opened his caravan door to find a lifeless Diane lying on the concrete.
As a concerned Tony picked up the metal pole, Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) walked around the corner and Edward also appeared.
Edward shouted: "Tony!" as he appeared, making out that his son was behind the brutal attack.
Viewers were devastated that Edward set up his son as part of his evil plan to win Diane.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Omg I knew Edward would blame Tony."
Another added: "OMG Edward!"
A third person posted: "OMG poor Tony."
While a fourth said: "Edward, why did you do that to Diane?"
Tony was later arrested by PC George Kiss at the end of the episode.
Will he manage to convince the police that he had nothing to do with his wife's attack?
Hollyoaks continues on Channel 4 on Wednesday at 6.30pm followed by a first-look episode on E4 at 7pm
