Is Yasmeen leaving Coronation Street as Geoff is left for dead?
The controlling and abusive behaviour of Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) towards Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) in Coronation Street has gone on for the best part of a year now, both to the anger and upset of viewers at home.
In tonight’s episode, the storyline will come to a head as Yasmeen decides to take drastic action after being left in fear of her life.
In previous episodes, evil Geoff discovered Yasmeen’s packed bag and wasted no time in letting her know how he felt about it, hastily tipping her belongings into a garden waste bin and setting fire to it.
He later told he would rather see her dead than with another man.
Now that Yasmeen is aware of what twisted Geoff is capable of, she decides to take matters into her own hands.
But how far will she go? And will she leave the cobbles?
Is Yasmeen leaving Coronation Street?
We already know that in tonight’s episode of Corrie, Yasmeen will finding herself fighting for her life and lashing out at Geoff in self defence – an act that will have life changing consequences for her.
In a preview for next week’s Coronation Street, we see Yasmeen in a police cell after calling 999 and confessing to the police what she has done.
Imran (Charlie de Melo) will watch as Yasmeen is charged, but what she is charged with remains to be seen.
What we do know is that actress Shelley King has no plans to leave Corrie any time soon, so even if her character does end up behind bars, she won’t be bidding goodbye to the Cobbles just yet.
Star Shelley also revealed on This Morning that the ending of Geoff and Yasmeen storyline may change due to filming halting because of coronavirus and she doesn’t know when she will be allowed back to set to start filming again:
‘I don’t know just how much of that bit that we’ve already filmed is going to go forward,’ she admitted.
‘We were stopped in mid-stream…it’s going to be very difficult, it depends how much we’re allowed to do.’
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV.
