Jacqueline Jossa says she WILL return to EastEnders as Lauren Branning ‘in the next five years’ – The Sun

JACQUELINE Jossa says she WILL return to EastEnders as Lauren Branning 'in the next five years'.

The actress, 27, is riding high after winning I'm A Celebrity last year but she still has a place in her heart for the BBC soap.

Jac played the character from 2010 until her departure in 2018, when Lauren fled to New Zealand with husband Peter Beale and son Louis.

"I absolutely love EastEnders, love the people, the production and I absolutely love Lauren Branning with all my heart.

"It doesn't feel like it was a goodbye forever, definitely not, well not from my end anyway. I would love to go back someday," she told the MailOnline.

"I could hobble back in on my walking stick one day."

When asked if she would return in under five years, Jacqueline said: "I think that sounds better than me going back tomorrow, yes."

The star replaced original actress Madeline Duggan in the role – and Jacqueline said the promotional image BBC bosses used of her sparked the backlash.

Speculation of her return reached fever pitch in December when it was announced that her onscreen boyfriend, Peter Beale, would be returning to Walford.

She's hinted in the past about returning to the soap.

During an Instagram Q&A last month, the mother-of-two was asked if she would play Lauren again.

She replied: "Maybe one day. She's not dead yet."

Fans were delighted by the shock revelation, with one tweeting: "Omg imagine if Jacqueline did actually return to EastEnders! It would be the best thing to happen in years!"

Another added: "Jac Jossa making a return to EastEnders would make my year! Oh my goodness!"

A third told her: "Would love to see you back on Albert Square, gal. Hasn't been the same since you've left!"

Right now Jac is focusing on her sell-out In The Style range.

She signed a six-figure deal after winning I'm A Celebrity.

A source close to the ex-EastEnders actress said at the time: “Jacqueline has been massively in demand since winning I’m A Celeb and she’s been courted by some huge brands but she wanted to team up with InTheSyle because she’s a fan of their ranges.

“She’s signed a huge six figure deal with them to release her own collections, just like Charlotte Crosby and Billie Faiers."
