Kate Ferdinand reveals sweet family name her three stepchildren call her
Kate Ferdinand has revealed the adorable name her three stepchildren, whom she shares with husband Rio Ferdinand, have affectionately adopted for her.
Appearing on today's Loose Women, the 30 year old mum-of-one, who has one year old son Cree with the retired footballer, explained that the reason for the decision came as a result of her wanting to unite the family as one.
Rio, 43, had Lorenz, 15, Tate, 13, and Tia, 10, with his late wife Rebecca Ellison, who sadly died of cancer in 2015, aged just 34.
Speaking about how she handles the dynamic in their household, former TOWIE star Rebecca, who recently opened up on feeling "lonely" every Mother's Day, told the show's panellists they've found a way for everyone to know her as a version of "mummy".
"Yeah they call me Kate, and Cree obviously calls me mum," she began. "And that was something I was worried about when I did have Cree – the dynamic.
"And even Mother's Day last year, I was panicking about my card," the star went on with a laugh, as she admitted she knew she shouldn't be worrying about something so trivial.
"[But it's because] I want the children to all be one and all be together," Kate explained.
"I didn't want Cree to send me a card saying mummy, and the kids to send me a separate.
"So I've kind of made this name 'Mummy Kate' so now they can all be one, and [it] sort of is both in one," she added.
The whole panel agreed wholeheartedly, as Jane Moore said: "That's a really good compromise isn't it."
Fitness buff and social media star Kate recently admitted she feels a deep sadness and a sense of "guilt" every Mother's Day on her latest podcast.
Despite her and Rio doing their absolute best to honour the memory of Lorenz, Tate and Tia's mum Rebecca and blend their family, it is a difficult day to mark.
"For me personally Mother's Day is a day that I struggle with," she said. "I'm fortunate to have three amazing step children and my biological son Cree, but sadly my stepchildren lost their mum at a young age and also my husband has lost his mum.

"I really really struggled with Mother's Day even before I was a biological parent, somehow I thought it would be easier when I had Cree but actually last year was probably the toughest Mother's Day to date," the star went on.
"It's a strange feeling the world is celebrating this day and there is a real big loss in my house but also it was my first Mother's Day – a day in another life that I would really look forward to, but here I am surrounded by my family.
"How can I have the audacity to celebrate myself when all my family have had such a deep loss. I felt really alone and quite isolated, I didn't know anyone in a similar situation or going through the same sort of thing as me," she added.
Kate and Rio got married in 2019, and welcomed son Cree in December, 2020.
