Law & Order: Organized Crime season one premiered just last month on April 1 and NBC is wasting no time in renewing the series. The show has been following Elliot Stabler (played by Christopher Meloni) as he returns to the NYPD to battle both organised crime and his own personal loss. The show has just been renewed for season two and Express.co.uk has all the details on the upcoming season.

What is the release date for season 2?

Season one of Law & Order: Organized Crime is still airing now, with the season not concluding until July 8.

Filming for season two will take place later this year, 2021, with the release date for season two expected early next year, 2022.

With season one premiering on April 9, a release date of Spring 2022 is likely.

NBC has not confirmed the release date for the upcoming season, with no more details on when the series will be released expected until season one is complete.

Who is in the cast of season two?

Christopher Meloni will return as Elliot Stabler, a character who recently returned to Law & Order: Special Victims Until after a 10-year gap.

Meloni left the show back in 2011, after being an original member of the cast since its premiere in 1999.

Danielle Mone Truitt (who plays Ayanna Bell), Tamara Taylor (Angela Wheatley) and Ainsley Seiger (Jet Slootmaekers) are all set to return for season two.

Rounding out the returning cast is Dylan McDermott (Richard Wheatley), Ibrahim Renno (Izak Bekher) and Michael Rivera (Diego Morales).

Is there a trailer for season two?

Currently, there is no trailer for the second season of Law & Order: Organized Crime, with the first season still well underway.

A trailer won’t drop until season one is complete and filming for season two has wrapped, meaning the earliest a trailer could release is late 2021.

Series showrunners Dick Wolf and Ilena Chaiken will both return to oversee the second season.

Wolf has been a producer on Law & Order True Crime, Law & Order: UK and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Chaiken producer a writer on Empire, The Handmaid’s Tale, Stumptown and The L Word: Generation Q.

What is the plot for season two?

It is impossible to know what the plot for season two will be until season one comes to an end.

So far in season one, Elliot Stabler has been hunting down Richard Wheatley, a crime boss in New York City.

The plot synopsis for episode five in season one, titled An Inferior Product, reads: “Stabler faces the consequences of a failed drug bust. Bell is forced to choose between the job and her family. Gina gets an unexpected visitor.”

Law & Order: Organized crime also surprised fans with a recent crossover, seeing the show join forces with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Fans have reacted to the news of the second season on Twitter, already expressing their excitement for Elliot Stabler’s return.

One fan said: “It’s so good it had to be renewed”.

Another added: “After last night’s crossover I would hope so!”
