The Loose Women panellists when a loud "alarm" went off in the studio.
Kaye Adams was presenting today's episode (May 19), of the ITV show when she was interrupted by a booming alarm while introducing the next segment.
The 59-year-old said: "Staying on the subject of supermarkets," before a loud voice beckoned: "Unexpected item in bagging area."
Shockwaves were immediately sent round the studio as panellists Frankie Bridge, Carol McGiffin and Nadia Sawalha were all startled by the loud noise.
A shocked Carol, 62, quipped: "I wondered what that was I was like oh my god, I thought we were going to have to evacuate."
Former The Saturday's singer Frankie, 32, grabbed her chest in shock as she agreed: "I thought something had gone wrong."
The topic of supermarkets prompted a hilarious conversation between the panel as they debated self-service checkouts.
The former Wright Stuff presenter exclaimed: "You can't fight the future because we need machines as there's not enough people to fill the jobs already."
Carol jumped in and joked: "Kaye, I'm not fighting the future, I just don't want to be in it, I don't want that."
She continued: "I'm just over it, everyone has to accept all this stuff and I don't want to, I don't want a cashless society."
Carol went on to say that she doesn't have a problem with a self-checkout, only that they can be a bit "revealing" for certain reasons.
The TV presenter said: "It's just a bit revealing when you've got four bottles of wine and it goes beep beep beep beep, and it's like oh 'the alcoholic's on this till'."
I'm A Celeb star Frankie agreed with what Carol was saying and explained it can be embarrassing when she's buying certain items.
"No I'm the same, even if you get painkillers or something because then this big light goes off and someone comes over, or if you're buying a pregnancy test or something for thrush even, imagine!"
Kaye joked to Frankie: "Don't tell everyone!"
Frankie corrected her and said: "I'm not currently," as she gave a funny look into the camera.
