Lucy Mecklenburgh, Danielle Armstrong and Sheridan Smith – all the stars who have given birth in lockdown – The Sun
CELEBRITIES such as Lucy Mecklenburgh, Danielle Armstrong and Sheridan Smith have all become first time mums during lockdown.
The coronavirus pandemic hasn't exactly been a joyful time for mothers-to-be, but luckily all of the celebs who have welcomed a bundle of joy, have done so safely and soundly.
We take a look back at which famous faces have become parents during lockdown…
Former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, 28, gave birth to a baby boy named Roman on March 7, less than two weeks before the UK officially went into lockdown.
It’s Lucy’s first child, but her fiancé Ryan Thomas is already a father to daughter Scarlett from a previous relationship.
Announcing Roman's arrival and full name with an adorable post on Instagram, Lucy then followed it up with another cute snap of her and Ryan leaving the hospital with their bundle of joy.
She captioned the post: "This was one of the most surreal moments of my life that I will cherish forever. When we left hospital to head home with our new baby.
"On our way home I’ve never seen Ryan drive so slowly and sensibly in my life 😆 . I sat in the back watching my beautiful boy 💙."
Last week, the reality TV star admitted she's found the past three months really tricky as she adjusts to life as a new mum during the pandemic.
Posting a photo of her and Roman at 4am, she told her 1.7 million followers: "I adore my son, every time I look at him I can’t believe I made this perfect baby boy and when he smiles and laughs my heart bursts with love ❤️.
"BUT I’ve really struggled now for 3 months maybe heightened by lockdown 😔."
"Sleepless nights aren’t getting any easier there is a reason sleep deprivation is a form of torture … I don’t want to post what looks like ‘perfect parenting’ but also don’t want to deal with dramatic headlines & online trolls for telling the truth!" she added.
"To all fellow mummas you are beyond amazing superhuman machines. This is for sure the hardest but most rewarding job that exists ❤️."
Another former TOWIE star who has become a first time mum during lockdown is Danielle Armstrong.
The 32-year-old and her fiancé Tommy Edney welcomed their baby girl, Orla Mae Edne, on May 26 and also announced the news via social media.
Posting a gorgeous picture of her daughter wearing a bobble hat, Danielle told her fans: "My World Is Complete 👶🏼💕 Orla Mae Edney Born May 26th at 16:30pm, Weighing A Healthy 8Ibs11 👶🏼💕 #mybabygirl #daughter #myworld @tommyedney."
Revealing Orla's arrive wasn't exactly straightforward, she added: "I'm not even going to talk about the labour, I'll save that for another day. She's here and that's all that matters.
"I am exhausted. I think all women who have children are superheroes. And the midwives. I literally feel like I've been hit by a bus. I'm so pleased she's here, I feel like the happiest girl in the world."
Two other reality stars who have become mums during the global coronavirus pandemic, just so happen to be sisters as well.
Chloe and Lauryn Goodman have welcomed their babies just weeks apart and have been keeping fans up-to-date with their journeys on Instagram.
Lauryn, 29, announced her happy news on April 27 when she shared a snap of her enjoying a cuddle with her newborn in bed – but she's yet to reveal the child's gender or name.
However, she has revealed that the father of her baby is England football player Kyle Walker – whom she had a brief romance with last summer.
Posting an adorable picture of her baby's bottom half, Lauryn wrote: "Being a single mother is twice the work, twice the stress and twice the tears! But also twice the love, twice the hugs and twice the pride!
"All I know is I am doing everything for you little one! – pumping at all hours, the sleepless nights. Everything is to give you the best start I can."
She continued: "All I can say is I have never valued my mum more than I do now. Being a mum is incredible. I never thought I’d ever be able to become a mummy.
"But it has it been testing at times, I’m a walking zombie most days and that’s just reality for now.
"Coffee has become my best buddy and I never drank it before. Some days I don’t even get out of my dressing gown! It’s a good job I’m staying in!"
Meanwhile, her younger sister Chloe welcomed a little girl named Isla Elizabeth Hall on May 4 and announced the news with a cute black and white photo of the little girl's hand clutching her finger.
Actress Sheridan Smith shared a similar picture when she confirmed the safe arrival of her little boy at the beginning of May as well.
"Our little man has arrived! We are both completely overwhelmed with love 💙," the 38-year-old Gavin & Stacey star write alongside the cute pic.
A few days later, she added: "I’d just like to say thank you so much! We have been so touched by all your lovely messages about the birth of our son.
"I’ve finally gotten round to reading all of them and am bowled over by everyone kindness. It mean the world. Huge love to you all from the 3 of us!" Sheridan added.
Another first time mum in May was Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, who welcomed a daughter with her husband Hugo Taylor.
The proud parents told Hello! magazine: "We are delighted to announce the arrival of our darling girl who arrived on Friday 1 May at 1:21pm, weighing a very healthy seven pounds.
"We are eternally grateful to the doctors, nurses and midwives for taking such good care of us.
"Mum and baby are both doing incredibly well and we are looking forward to bringing our daughter home and spending time together as a family."
Another couple who welcomed a little girl are Ronan Keating and his wife Storm.
The former Boyzone singer's second child with the Australian star arrived at the end of March and they named her Coco.
Ronan, 43, shared a sweet picture of the three of them in hospital and captioned it: "Hello world 👶 Spreading some good cheer at this time with the announcement of the safe delivery of our little girl Coco Knox Keating. Calmly arrived on 27/3/20. Mama & Baba are rocking #HappyTimes #KeatingClan #BabyKeating."
Former Celebs Go Dating coach Nadia Essex also became a mum during lockdown and welcomed her bundle of joy, whom she named Ezekiel Michael Essex, in March.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson also had a baby boy when his fiancée Carrie Symonds gave birth at the University College Hospital in London on April 29.
