Masked Dancer’s Davina McCall accidentally spills clue to Scarecrow’s identity

Masked Dancer judge Davina McCall has accidentally revealed a major clue to the secret identity of one of the contestants.

While appearing on Lorraine to discuss the Masked Singer spin-off, Davina let slip that the Scarecrow is female.

The incident came up when Lorraine wondered how judges would guess because the Masked Singer revealed their voice.

In answering the question, she made the remark: "Scarecrow, in particular – every time she came out, there was an extra clue in her dungarees."

Davina also expressed delight in working with new judge South African dancer Oti Mabuse before detailing several other elements judges look out for when looking to uncover contestants' identities.

She said: “People do have a certain physicality to them.

"We had a couple of nights where somebody was guessed from a movement or an energy that they had, so that was really interesting.

"But you do get to hear their voices when they do their clue packages. So we're really trying to listen out for accents – there are some American accents in there. Are they real? Are they faking it?

"From the accent, you can kind of tell whether it's a girl or a boy because we are down to the basics of 'Is it a boy or a girl?'”

Davina also said that even the types of music contestants choose can help with identifying people.

She added: “And the choice of music – Carwash used very specific types of music. Zip used very specific types of music.

“It was very funny because I got very blase about calling people Zip and Carwash. I looked over at Oti and said, 'This show is crazy!'"

As well as Oti and Davina, other permanent judges are Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan – but guest judges will also be present with Holly Willoughby and David Walliams taking to the panel.

Masked Dancer begins this Saturday on ITV with contestants such as Knickerbocker Glory, Frog and a Rubber Chicken.
