Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Gary Hollywood ‘offered big-money deals’ after quitting show
Mrs Brown’s Boys star Gary Hollywood has been offered a string of big-money deals since quitting the show.
The actor, famed for playing Dino in the hit comedy, has had top-secret meetings with three TV networks.
And he is in advanced talks to sign a lucrative book deal.
A source close to the star said: “Gary has had a lot of interest since it emerged he’s left Mrs Brown’s Boys.
“The offers have been racking up. He’s already had some very promising meetings. The offers on the table will be great for his career and also pretty lucrative.”
He was furious when he reportedly discovered he was being paid less than his co-stars. After raising the issue with bosses, he was allegedly told he would have a reduced role in this year’s festive specials.
The source said: “Gary was on the show for nine years so it wasn’t an easy decision to walk away.
“He was understandably nervous about leaving a hit show. But he didn’t need to worry at all. He has hit the career jackpot since leaving. The future is looking very bright.”
Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll's pain as sister dies in Canada
Mrs Brown’s Boys has become one of the BBC’s biggest shows since launching in 2011 and it has pulled in big ratings and won a string of awards.
But in recent weeks it has emerged there are feuds behind the scenes.
Gary's account liked a tweet from a disgruntled viewer, who wrote: "This it is shocking the way [Brendan O'Carroll] has treated [Gary Hollywood]. Think Brendan has got too big for his boots! [sic]."
An insider also told MailOnline that there is tension behind the scenes, saying: "The show is very Upstairs/Downstairs, with a very clear divide between Brendan’s family and the few actual actors such as Gary and Damien.
"The family are all directors of the Mrs Brown’s production company and are always looked after.
"The BBC let Brendan do whatever he wants!"
