Naga Munchetty takes swipe at ‘forgettable’ Charlie Stayt after awkward blunder

Daily Star’s Inside Hot TV newsletter sees Ed Gleave send you telly’s hot takes straight to your inbox every Sunday

BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty has taken a dig at co-shot Charlie Stayt after an interview blunder with vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi.

The minister appeared on Friday's programme where he shared his thoughts on the latest vaccine roll-out programme against the Delta variant.

But, as it came to an end, Charlie called him out for calling him "Dan" – after fellow Breakfast presenter Dan Walker – throughout the chat.

Naga clearly enjoyed the awkward moment as the cameras cut back to the studio. Charlie turned to her and said: "We have all done it. To be honest, I have done that more often."

The 46-year-old then commented: "Obviously Dan and Louise are at the start of the week, we are here at this end of the week.

"Often they go through all these different broadcasters and they are trying to remember who is who.

But to rub salt into the wound, she added: "And you know, sometimes you are forgettable. Matt is never forgettable."

Weather presenter Matt Taylor chimed in and said: "I have never been called Mike, no."

"But no, Charlie is never forgettable of course," Naga added.

This came after meteorologist Carol Kirkwood made a similar mistake by calling presenter Ben Thompson the entirely wrong name.

She confused Ben with Dan and said: "Perhaps on Sunday there will be a bit more cloud around, but again that is open to question. Dan and Naga."

Quickly realising she had made the error, Carol screeched "Ben!"

She added: "I could of got away with that one."

Carol also previously called Naga as "Nana" on the show, leaving Naga unimpressed saying: "Oh here you go, just try and get my name right, just once Carol."

Tried to fix the situation, Carol told her: "We have a producer named Nana that I work with all the time, and Naga, I just get your names confused.
