NCIS’ universe will be expanding yet again, just months after NCIS Hawaii premiered on CBS. This time, the police procedural format is going to be leaving America for the first time and heading off to sunny Sydney in Australia. One detail that fans are desperate to know is who is going to be starring in this latest spin-off?

Will Agent Ziva David return in NCIS Sydney?
NCIS Hawaii made its big debut in September 2021, taking a new investigative team and dropping them in the island state.
This time around, the creators chose actress and Love is Blind star Vanessa Lachey to lead the cast as Agent Jane Tennant.
Not only is she already a familiar face, but Tennant is also the first woman to act as a team leader in the franchise.
With NCIS Sydney now on the cards, there may now be scope for another recognisable lead but this time, in the shape of Agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
Ziva joined the cast of NCIS in the third season after the death of Agent Kate Todd (Sasha Alexander) but is thought of as an original member of the team.
She made her exit at the end of series 11 when Ziva chose to venture to Israel rather than stay put in Washington, leaving her flirtatious colleague Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) behind.
In 2016, actress de Pablo explained that she left NCIS out of respect for her character.
During a Q&A, she said: “Unfortunately because of political things and scripts not being good enough, I chose not to [return to NCIS].”.
However, she has never said never to a possible comeback, saying that she would be waiting for someone to write “something really fantastic for her”.
Fans finally got their wish with a shocking comeback in the last few moments of season 16 after it was thought she had died in a mortar attack a few years ago.
Luckily, this was just a ploy to protect her family, Tony and their daughter Tali who he took to Paris to start a new life.
In season 17, Ziva left Agent Leroy Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) side to be reunited with them and as far as viewers are concerned, they are living their happily ever after.

But this doesn’t necessarily mean that Ziva won’t go back into the field somewhere else.
Actress de Pablo has already proved she is more than willing to return to the franchise and NCIS Sydney could be the new opportunity she was looking for.
As of yet though, there has been no indication on who is going to star in the Australia spin-off just yet.
It is slated for 2023 but any news regarding the cast remains a well-kept secret for now.
Express.co.uk will update this article if any more information comes out on NCIS Sydney.
For now though, fans have the return of NCIS season 19 to look forward to.
The CBS series hasn’t been airing since last month due to the Winter Olympics in Beijing being shown but the usual television schedule will soon resume.
NCIS season 19 will return on Monday, February 28, on CBS in America. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
