Netflixs new show Sexy Beasts leaves viewers baffled as daters dress in masks
From Dating in the Dark to Naked Attraction, British TV has always found creative ways to document singletons trying to find love, but Netflix's latest feature leaves viewers unsettled.
The whacky programme asks contestants to don heavy makeup and prosthetics in an attempt to find love without relying on looks.
The reality TV series appears to take inspiration from The Masked Singer, but it has left viewers feeling uncomfortable and apprehensive.
One Twitter user commented: "Maybe I'm overreacting to that Sexy Beasts trailer, we should all be banned from having sex ever again."
Another user added: "Masks, The Masked Singer, now Sexy Beasts… (New show with make up and elaborate masks on blind dates) I don't understand the fascination with hiding our identity. I'm perplexed."
Nightmares about blind dates have seemingly become much more realistic.
Whether confronted with a giant panda, a scarecrow, a humanoid dolphin or a date with the devil, Netflix has taken their dating show to the next level.
The trailer shows one contestant saying it's "the strangest blind date ever."
Robert Delaney, the star of Catastrophe, hosts the bizarre dating show.

In the trailer, Delaney asks: "Would you fall in love with someone based on personality alone?"
The concept of the show takes blind dating to the extreme, swapping nice makeup and a good outfit for a nightmare plucked directly out of the uncanny.
However, some viewers are looking forward to the show as a fresh take on finding love.
One Twitter user commented: "Can't wait to binge this. Last year was Love Is Blind, this year it's Sexy Beasts."
Another aptly wrote: "Love Island meets Foxy Bingo! Welcome to 2021!"
Netflix summarised the show, writing: "Sexy Beasts is a new dating show where real-life singles sport elaborate makeup and prosthetics to put true blind-date chemistry to the test."
Not all the contestants are convinced about putting personality first.
In the trailer, one contestant, dressed as a Beaver, said: “Ass first, personality second.”
