Oti Mabuse drops Strictly exit hint as bosses fear she’ll quit for Masked Dancer

Oti Mabuse is one of the most beloved professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing.

And apart from anything else, she’s one of the most successful, having lifted the Glitterball trophy an impressive two years in a row on the BBC competition.

When the South African-German dancer went all the way to the final with former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, many simply thought the pair were a match made in heaven.

Kelvin seemed to excel at every style he tried, and his and Oti’s Showdance was truly one for the ages in the 2019 final.

But when Oti also made a winner out of comedian Bill Bailey during last year’s series, it was clear her incredible talent and teaching skills are not to be sniffed at.

What’s more, when Oti joined the panel of the BBC’s Greatest Dancer as a coach for its first series in 2019, she also won with then 14-year-old Ellie Ferguson.

So it makes sense why ITV would poach the star for their new show The Masked Dancer – the latest series which will mimic the format of The Masked Singer that saw Oti replace Rita Ora.

But as the dancer becomes more and more popular, Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be worried she could leave them behind for other pastures.

A source told The Sun: "Oti has been inundated with offers. Her profile has really blown up since she joined Strictly and she has had ideas pitched from a number of major channels.

"The BBC are now growing increasingly worried that her time on Strictly is numbered. She really is passionate about her dance school, and is batting off TV offers left right and centre.

"Throw the commitment of The Masked Dancer into the mix and suddenly her year might look quite different, as Strictly is a big undertaking. Producers fear she's outgrown the show," the insider added.

Addressing the fears directly on Steph’s Packed Lunch today, Oti laughed: "Ahh! Do you know what, some of these conversations obviously I have never been a part of – they are above my pay grade.

"I can’t say yes as to whether I’m going back or not. So, everybody will have to wait and see to find out what is going on. But it is nice to be spoken about…right?"

The star added that while the media is reporting people are "fighting" over her, that’s not necessarily the case as she is but a "little dot".

"These are big shows," Oti added to presenter Steph McGovern.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One later this year.
