Penny Lancaster recently celebrated her 50th birthday and the Loose Women panel couldn’t wait to hear what Sir Rod Stewart surprised her with. The panellist, who joined the show via video link, gushed as she revealed she had a narrowboat which she can “do up” after wanting to try a new hobby.
Penny began: “Well how wonderful was Zoom. I had a zoom party.
“All of my girlfriends did their own video to one of Rod’s songs.”
She added she had “so many cards and flowers” and loved being able to catch up with her friends over the whole evening.
Eager to hear about her present, Jane Moore asked: “What did Rod get you?”
Teasing the panel, Penny continued: “Well, in the first lockdown, I enjoyed slowing down and having a more simple life.
“Second lockdown was a little tougher and I thought I need to think of a hobby.
“There’s a lovely river near us and there’s narrowboats. I thought, my dream would be to get an old narrowboat to do it up.
“And that’s what Rod got me,” she concluded beaming at the camera.

When Penny celebrated her birthday, she told her fans on Instagram there were “tears” as she reached the milestone.
Posting a candid photo from celebrations inside her Essex mansion she shares with Rod, Penny displayed candles, flowers and framed family photos.
She captioned the shot: “My lockdown 50th was magical. The outpouring of love and birthday wishes warmed me to my soul.

“You made my birthday complete, just as you make my life complete. My Zoom party was full of unforgettable memories, tears and laughter.
“I made lots of wishes when I blow out all 50 of my hand made personalised candles, giving thanks to all my cherished loved ones.”
It comes after Sir Rod opened up on how he found life in lockdown. Speaking exclusively to express.co.uk, he shared: “I’ve had four of my children with me which has made it a lot easier.
“It’s been an adjustment but we’ve made the best of it. And yes, I had one day where I shed a tear or ten because it got to me.”
However, he explained he has been working on new music throughout lockdown and is preparing to share a new album soon.
“My new album is finished and in the can and will be released this year,” he declared.
“That was one positive that came down from the pandemic — I knuckled down and wrote lots and lots of songs and enjoyed every moment.”
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
