Si King says great to reunite with Dave Myers after health scare

Dave Myers gives health update on This Morning

On Wednesday’s instalment of This Morning, the two chefs prepared some delicious lamb koftas with a wholemeal couscous salad for hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Although ITV viewers have seen Si King on the daytime show over the past year, it was the first time he was alongside the other half of the Hairy Bikers duo, Dave Myers.

The 65-year-old took a break from filming activity while undergoing chemotherapy after he revealed in May 2022 he was battling cancer.

However, the chef was back in action once again as friend Si King was thrilled to have his sidekick back.

As Phil told the Hairy Biker star it was great to have him back on the show, Si took a cheeky jibe at Dave.

Before planting a big kiss on the cheek and bringing him in for a hug, Si joked: “He’s just as irritating so it’s great!’

Commenting on how well he was looking, the two This Morning hosts questioned how he was doing following his chemo.

To which Dave replied: “I’m doing very well and it’s so nice to be back.

“Yeah it’s a work in progress but I’ve got my hair back and I’m feeling great. It’s the healthy eating you see that does it! No, I’m doing really well.”

As the duo started to prepare their meal, it looked as though Si was grateful to have his fellow chef by his side after realising Dave had already sorted the sauce for them.

Laughing at Si’s forgetfulness, the Hairy Biker commented: “I am so glad to be back, it’s like coming home.”

Dave’s appearance on This Morning comes after he confessed the reality of his chemotherapy side-effects.

Speaking to Kaye Adams on her How To Be 60 podcast, the chef revealed he’s having to learn to walk again and requires constant care.

He said: “I’ve had to learn to walk again properly. I’m still having chemotherapy, but what I’m finding out now is you have to live with the cancer.

“It’s like a diabetic who needs insulin and constant care. That’s the state I’m in now. By God, the chemotherapy doesn’t half-age you quickly.

“Because your balance goes, so for someone with a motorbike that’s a disaster and my walking has been affected quite a lot, really.”

However, the 65-year-old shared fans will be seeing him and Si on-screen again soon as a new series of The Hairy Bikers is in the works.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am
