Spoilers: 7 questions we have after EastEnders' huge return

EastEnders returned to screens tonight (September 7), and it did so with a bang — no doubt leaving viewers craving the next episode.

Tonight’s instalment caught the audience up on what the residents of Walford have been getting up to — and how they’ve been coping — while in lockdown.

There was tension aplenty, as Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) reminded Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) of how she owed him gratitude for helping her out in court, while Mick and Linda Carter (Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright) adjusted to a world outside of the pub.

Yes, it was a brave new world for many a Walford resident, including Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay), who’s managed to become a copper amid the pandemic.

The first instalment — well, technically the soap’s 6,125th, but hey who’s counting? Not me — was an utter delight, but in typical Doof Doof fashion, it left us with questions aplenty… and we’re going to need some answers!

Will Sharon believe Dotty?

Sharon received quite the shock when she discovered that the Queen Vic bust was back where it belongs, but that proved to be the least of her worries, as Dotty later left her in a state of total disbelief.

Yes, the mother of all revelations came at the very end of tonight’s instalment, as — after months of keeping shtum — Dotty revealed that Ian is responsible for Dennis’ death.

A devastated Ian watched on as Dotty exposed his big lie, but the question is: will Sharon believe her?

Or will Ian perhaps be able to convince her that Dotty is lying?

Will Callum report Ben or bury the evidence?

Callum couldn’t be more chuffed about being a fully fledged police officer, but after being assigned to desk duty for the whole day, the sheen started to wear off a bit.

However, his biggest problem arose when he was forced to analyse CCTV from a warehouse job, only to discover that Ben is present in the footage!

How will he proceed?

Will he protect his beau? Or will he turn him in?

How will Ben’s implant switch on go?

Speaking of Ben, the young man was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his implant switch on — which Callum promised to be present for.

While the policeman will no doubt find himself tied up at work following his recent CCTV discovery, the big question is: how will the switch on go?

Footage from the extended trailer — which aired during Friday’s edition of Secrets From The Square — revealed that Ben can hear following the switch-on, but will Callum reveal all about the CCTV footage?

Will Mick find a job?

Mick was down in the dumps about being out of work, and it came to light that Linda had been going out to work amid the pandemic, while he stayed at home to look after Ollie, and little Albie — aka Kayden.

However, it came to light later of the episode that his latest job interview didn’t go quite as planned, so what the future holds for him in terms of employment remains to be seen.

As for Linda, she’s working in the launderette.

Will Kheerat help Chantelle out?

With lockdown having proven especially difficult for her, Chantelle has become hellbent on getting out of her abusive marriage, and therefore sought the best divorce lawyer going — a man from Gray’s rival firm.

When she realised how much the process might cost, she decided to seek help from Kheerat.

The question is: will he help her out?

Who is stealing Ruby’s money?

It came to light during tonight’s episode that Ruby is having financial difficulties — something which she’s seemingly decided to withhold from Martin.

However, matters were complicated further when she answered a phone call to discover that outlandish purchases — such as an order for teddy bears — had been made on her card.

As a result, one can’t help but wonder: what is going on? And what’s more, who is behind this?

Will Suki get Chantelle fired?

Suki appears to be hellbent on getting rid of Chantelle, as she hopes that such an action would result in Gray getting the message that they’re not pleased about him having reported them to trading standards.

While Kheerat evidently doesn’t want to sack Chantelle, one can’t help but wonder if his mum will set out to put the young woman in her place?

She did see Chantelle talking to a divorce lawyer, so could she use this information to her advantage perhaps?
