Spoilers: Callum seeks support from Frankie to save Ben in EastEnders

Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) has been struggling to come to terms with his additional hearing loss in EastEnders, and Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) has done everything he can to support him, but in the coming episodes, the hopeful policeman seeks guidance from elsewhere, as he comes face-to-face with newcomer Frankie.

With Ben having once again aligned himself with Phil (Steve McFadden) to carry out a dodgy deal, the next episode sees the young man attempt to get some police intel out of boyfriend Callum — which results in an altercation ensuing on the day in which he’s set to have his hearing operation.

In spite of such a betrayal, love is clearly more important than duty for Callum, as new spoilers reveal that he returns to support his beau, but — in spite of things looking up — it soon comes to light that Ben isn’t very well.

Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) does her best to support her son, but both she and Callum are distracted when they see Frankie arguing with the doctor — something which results in Ben becoming more concerned about his future.

However, as the operation is set to commence, the doctor reveals that he cannot go ahead with the procedure while Ben is unwell — a revelation which leaves the young man gutted.

Meanwhile, Linda (Kellie Bright) is concerned when she discovers that Phil is more worried about the sale of the boozer than he is about his own son’s operation, but he’s later shocked when Kathy reveals that the operation has been rescheduled.

Phil worries about whether to not to let Ben assist with the job, and Kathy soon shares her concerns about what he and her son are getting up to.

Later, Callum spots Frankie shoplifting, and — upon realising that she’s deaf — he steps in. He asks her if she could speak to Ben — but Ben is less than impressed with such an idea.
