Spoilers: Ellie Nixon is 'up there' with most evil EastEnders villains says star

EastEnders fans were delighted to learn that singer Mica Paris will be joining the BBC One soap as mysterious Ellie Nixon.

Little was known about the character at the time — other than the fact that her story will involve Denise Fox (Diane Parish) — but actress Mica has teased what viewers can expect when Ellie arrives in Albert Square.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Mica said: ‘My gosh. I don’t know if you’d heard rumours about me as a person, but everyone would tell you I’m a joker.

‘This character not that. She is hardcore!

‘There is a moment when I was filming — and I never watch myself on the telly — I walked past the monitor while I was no set filming, and I caught myself on the monitor. I was absolutely terrified!

‘I ran out of the studio! The director was like “Oh my gosh, Mica. You are terrifying!”

‘I’m just not that person, I love everybody, and I’m a very optimistic kind of character, but this woman is hardcore!’

When discussing the soap’s legendary villains, Mica said: ‘She’s [Ellie] up there!’

‘It’s the first time I’ve ever played a villain.

‘She is formidable.’

Executive Producer Jon Sen confirmed that Mica’s arrival will be tied to Denise. He told Metro.co.uk: ‘We have got a great story for Denise. The Mica Paris announcement went out last week, and we all know she is coming to the Square, and that’s part of an on-going Denise story.

‘It really pushes Denise to the front of the show. Those Trueman stories are amazing. Mica forms part of that story with Denise.’

EastEnders returns Monday, September 7 at 8:05pm on BBC One.
