Strictly Come Dancing sees ninth star eliminated after dreaded dance-off
Ellie Taylor has become the ninth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing, as she failed to win over the judges.
Ellie, 38, faced X Factor star Fleur East, who has been in the dreaded dance-off three times in the competition.
The judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse were unanimous in their decision to save Fleur.
However, the judges praised Ellie for her jive performance to Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl, but credited Fleur's Rumba to Sugababes' Too Lost In You for demonstrating better technique.
Shirley said, “Both couples danced exceptionally well" and Anton described the dance-off as "marvellous".
Reflecting on her time on the show, Ellie said, "It has and it’s been, I’m going to be a cliché machine now, but it’s been everything and more. I never in a million years expected to be in for this long and to experience it so fully."
When host Tess Daly asked Ellie if there was anything she'd like to say to her dance partner Johannes Radebe, the comedian heaped on the praise.
She told him, "You [Johannes] are as wonderful as everyone said you would be, and I’ve said you’re like human sunshine and you really really are."
She continued, "I have been so worried and so out of my comfort zone and so self-conscious and so weird and you have said “embrace your weird Ellie”. You’ve done it so full-heartedly and without judgement.
"It’s been an absolute privilege to dance with you JoJo, I don’t know what runs through your body but it’s not blood, it’s rhythm and it’s music, and to watch you perform is incredible.”
Johannes echoed Ellie's sentiments telling her, "Oh my goodness – it’s been a pleasure, treasure, that’s our thing. Ellie Taylor, moving forward, embrace your weird! Embrace your long limbs, because you are one gorgeous person. So thank you for everything, you know my heart, thank you.”
Sunday's results show also featured Tom Grennan performing his hit single with Joel Corry, Lionheart.
The remaining six couples will take to the dance floor for Musicals Week when Strictly Come Dancing will air live on Friday 2nd December at 8.00pm.
The usual Saturday night show has been moved for the World Cup coverage, meaning the celebrities will have one less day of training before the Quarter Finals.
The results show will air on Saturday 3rd December on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
