Susanna Reid, 49, has become the nation’s sweetheart, serving in the role as host of Good Morning Britain since 2014. From Monday to Wednesdays, the presenter has sat alongside Piers Morgan, 54, but now, she will be sitting down with another one of her ITV colleagues. This is because the broadcaster has signed up to take part in Channel 4 spin-off programme, Celebrity Gogglebox. With a whole array of famous faces taking part, the journalist is just another name to add to the ever-growing list.

The Friday night point-of-view series is currently in its second run of the all-star edition, with the likes of Loose Women star Stacey Solomon, 30, and former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! champion Harry Redknapp, 73, sitting down with their famous spouses.

Instead of appearing alongside on-screen husband Piers, however, Susanna will instead be joined by Judge Robert Rinder, 42, to review the latest goings-on from the small screen.

Barrister Robert is best known for his putting a whole manner of disputes to bed on his afternoon reality courtroom series, Judge Rinder.

As he and the breakfast morning show host are already best of friends, it seems producers were keen to bring the pair together for Susanna’s stint away from the topical news programme.

Speaking to The Sun, Robert said of Piers’ absence from the series: “I am very grateful to Celebrity Gogglebox for ensuring Piers Morgan will only be the second most important man in my dear friend Susanna’s TV life from now on.”

A source also told the publication producers were looking for pairings who weren’t real-life couples, as This Morning stars Eamonn Holmes, 60, and Ruth Langsford, 60, also take part in the show.

“They also liked the mischief of splitting up one of telly’s best- known presenting duos, and putting Susanna with someone she is guaranteed to have a rapport with,” they added.

This is the first time either Susanna or Piers would have starred on the point-of-view programme alongside some of their colleagues, so viewers will have to wait and see what they make of the journalist’s critiques.

However, despite her career in journalism, this isn’t the presenter’s first break away to something completely out of the remit.

Back in 2013, Susanna was a contestant on BBC dance show, Strictly Come Dancing where she was partnered with professional dancer, Kevin Clifton, 37.

The broadcaster made it all the way to the final of the series but just lost out on first place which went to Abbey Clancy, 34.

Only two years ago, the host dipped her toe into the world of soaps when she made a cameo appearance in Channel 4 weeknight serial drama, Hollyoaks.

In this role, she did appear alongside Piers and they were seen on-screen reporting the news from the Good Morning Britain studio.

The pair have conducted projects independently, with Susanna’s co-star presenting his Life Stories series as well as his ventures to the United States to speak with convicted killers.

As part of ITV’s Crime and Punishment season, his co-host also did some digging into real-life murder cases in a series of documentaries.

Even before she ever joined forces with the straight-talking journalist, the broadcaster was a favourite with BBC Breakfast viewers.

During her 10 year stint as host on the show, the presenter brought the news to viewers at home alongside the likes of Bill Turnbull, 64.

The duo were reunited for the first time since Susanna left the BBC earlier this year when Piers took a break from his duties.

Speaking of being reunited with her former co-star, the broadcaster said: “I haven’t heard that for a number of years, Susanna Reid and Bill Turnbull,” as she embraced him with a hug.

“I know, go on pinch me because I can’t believe this is really happening,” the latter replied.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV. Celebrity Gogglebox continues Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
