Social-media star Tana Mongeau is accepting applications for influencers who want her to manage their careers.
Mongeau announced on Monday that she is launching Tana’s Angels Agency, a new influencer management division within the social-media marketing company Unruly Agency.
“Throughout my career I’ve been taken advantage of more times than I can count,” Mongeau told US Weekly. “I am starting TAA to teach people how to not make the mistakes I made early on in my career. I understand more creators are born every day and we’re in a creator culture.”
Mongeau first began working with Unruly, started by Tara Electra and Nicky Gathrite, in 2020 to help manage her OnlyFans account. Aside from OnlyFans, Unruly has also connected its clients with brands like Fashion Nova, Pretty Little Thing, and Manscaped for brand partnerships.
The new division will be ran by Mongeau, Electra, and Mongeau’s manager David Weintraub, who is also the CEO of DWE Talent Management.
Mongeau is a top influencer on social media, and she has over 5 million followers on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. She has built a name and business for herself through a history of controversial content. In 2019, for instance, Mongeau “married” YouTuber Jake Paul, which led to traditional media coverage, and she has continued to make headlines for extreme photo editing and her changing relationship status.
Mongeau is a self-proclaimed “struggling demonetized influencer,” which means she barely earns any revenue from her YouTube channel through ads. Instead, Mongeau earns money as an influencer through brand deals, selling merchandise, and by charging a fee to view exclusive and uncensored content on her OnlyFans page.
Typically, talent managers in the industry work to help their clients secure deals and diversify their online brands. They’ll also advise clients against promoting products that could damage their careers, and help in operating companies. Managers usually earn revenue by receiving a cut of the influencer’s earnings, which typically ranges from 10 to 20%, depending on how much the manager does for the client, according to industry insiders.
Unruly did not respond to a request for comment on the terms of Mongeau’s contracts with influencers she manages.
Generally, there are a few key things influencers should consider before working with a manager on their business, according to industry insiders. For instance, a manager should never ask for an up-front fee or “deposit,” and the manager-influencer relationship should be mutually beneficial.
Mongeau is taking applications through this form, which asks for the talent’s name, age, Instagram username, and follower count.
