The Great British Sewing Bee eliminates contestant after lingerie week
The Great British Sewing Bee sadly kissed goodbye to yet another contestant tonight, with Joe Lycett delivering the bad news that Ali would be going home.
This time around, the hopefuls were put through their paces and tasked to make lingerie and sleepwear in a series of challenges.
To test the sewers’ handling skills, judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young kicked off the pattern challenge with a boned basque.
The task required sewing together small pattern pieces for a precise fit and creating a tricky hook and eye fastening.
Next, in the transformation round, the sewers transformed pyjamas and nightwear into a summer dress, before finally being to create a two-piece female sleep set which had to incorporates lace somewhere in their design.
Sadly though, it was the end of the road for Ali, who didn’t quite make the cut.
‘It’s been fantastic and I think I’ve done Yorkshire proud. It hasn’t felt like I’ve been on Sewing Bee, it’s felt like I’ve had some crazy days away with friends sewing.
‘Can I apply again next year?’
Last time, Hazel was eliminated after a tricky sportswear week.
‘I’m really proud of myself,’ she said as she exited the competition. ‘I’ve really enjoyed it and have seen a different side to my sewing.
‘Sewing is really cool, it’s really magical and I’ve loved every minute of it.’
Now, just seven contestants remain.
The Great British Sewing Bee airs Wednesdays at 9pm on BBC One.
