The Voice UK fans were completely in awe over one contestant who sounded just like coach and Welsh music legend Tom Jones.

With a passion for singing, Benjamin who has a day job at supermarket Tesco said that he often got on the microphone at work – but not to sing.

Unhappy with his day job and wanting more after singing for 10 years, the 27-year-old appeared on the show and hoped to impress the coaches – including Tom.

When he started to sing, viewers at home were quick to clock one thing… that Benjamin sounded very familiar.

Singing a song that Tom had sung previously, the hopeful belted out the track as Twitter lit up with messages comparing the contestant's voice to the coach's.

"He sounds a tad like @RealSirTomJones #TheVoiceUK," penned one viewer.

Another then added: "#thevoiceuk sounds like Tom."

"Tom be like: Is this a me tribute act?'," joked a third.

While a fourth said: "Bit Tom Jones tribute act….. #TheVoiceUk."

Former X Factor star turned coach Olly Murs turned straight away and dubbed Benjamin's appearance as a "fantastic performance" that made him "feel good".

But Tom's hand hovered over his button for quite some time before deciding not to turn for the singer who sounded like him.

Tom did praise the singer though and said that he was "thinking about it".

Benjamin did go through though and will have Olly as his coach throughout the show.

Fans at home noted how the contestant looked "gutted" that Tom didn't turn though.

One wrote: "He’s gutted that Sir Tom didn’t turn for him, I’m sure he would have picked him if he had. #TheVoiceUK."

While someone else said: "I'm actually a little surprised Tom Jones didn't turn for the Tesco guy. That music and voice is his kind of jam."
