When The Witcher first came out, it became the second most-watched show in 2019 for Netflix, even though it was only released 11 days before the end of the year. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the series’s return with its second season. And while the pandemic has delayed production significantly, it was just announced on Friday that filming was completed, which means the wait is almost over.

The show delivered the production update to fans on Twitter on The Witcher’s official account.

It posted a picture of Henry Cavill in costume as the show’s main character Geralt of Rivia while holding a clapperboard.

“That’s a wrap on Season 2! The White Wolf awaits you back on The Continent,” read the caption.

In the comments, many fans expressed their enthusiasm for the show’s return: “OMG YAAYYY.” (sic)

“WHO ELSE IS CRYING,” wrote another fan.

A third person, not content with season two, added: “Good, now begin the season 3 production.”

“That’s what I like to see,” wrote a fourth viewer.

“Can’t wait. Gonna be epic,” another added.

The crew also shared a funny video celebrating completing the season.

In it, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich could be seen turning off her 3am alarms, while executive producer Jason Brown got lost in the woods now that he is done with his job.

EPs Tomek Baginski and Steve Gaub did a little dance in front of a green screen and a rap down the halls.

At the end of the video, one crew member pulled a stunt clapping the clapperboard mid-air while jumping in front of the camera.

As the new season picks up, fans will see Geralt of Rivia bring Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen

While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, Geralt must protect the girl from the mysterious power she possesses inside.

However, while Geralt is convinced Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, she will surely be hot on their trail.

Fans are also eager to know what will be of one of the most beloved characters, Jaskier (Joey Batey).

One character fans will be seeing more of according to Hissrich is Mimi Ndiweni’s Fringilla.

One character unfortunately received a re-cast as Thue Ersted Rasmussen wasn’t able to reprise his role as Eskel after already filming some scenes and his role was taken over by Basil Eidenbenz.

As far as new casting additions are concerned, Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju will join as Nivellen.

A spin-off show for The Witcher titled Blood Origins is also in the works with Vikings actor Laurence O’Fuarain.

The Witcher season one is available to stream on Netflix.
