The Witcher unveils season 3 trailer with look at Henry Cavill’s exit
The Witcher: Season 3 teaser
After almost two years of anticipation, The Witcher will finally return to screens this summer with its eagerly awaited third season.
On Tuesday, the trailer was released and provided a brief glimpse at Geralt (played by Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) comeback.
Although the teaser didn’t provide any clues about the upcoming instalment, it promised an ominous season ahead as they could be seen searching for each other.
Geralt could also be heard saying something about an encounter with a monster, which marked the first time he truly felt fear.
This could be a major hint at the long-awaited Wild Hunt finally taking place after it was teased at the end of season two.
The trailer also provided a release date for season three, confirming the series would be released in two parts.
The instalment premieres on Thursday, June 29, while part two will land on Netflix less than a month later on Thursday, July 27.
Thankfully for fans, the streaming giants released an insightful synopsis, which read: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.

“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers.
“Instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.
“They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”
Season three will mark Cavill’s final appearance as Geralt after he confirmed he would be stepping away from the series to return to the DC Universe as Clark Kent/Superman.
While this announcement took fans by shock, it was confirmed Liam Hemsworth would be taking over as Geralt in season four.
In his lengthy Instagram statement, Cavill paid tribute to Hemsworth and wrote: “Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
Hemsworth also took to Instagram to speak on the casting and shared: “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia.
“Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”
