Why is Casualty not on tonight and when is it back?

Sorry soap fans, Casualty is not going to be gracing our screens tonight.

The serial drama is missing from the BBC One schedule tonight, and has been replaced by Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer.

Here’s what we know about why Casualty’s was the slot taken…

Why is Casualty not on tonight?

BBC has stopped filming for not just Casualty, but also Doctors, Holby City and EastEnders because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement from the BBC on the subject read: ‘In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on all BBC Studios continuing dramas will be postponed until further notice.

‘The decision was made after the latest government update. We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and public health organisations.’

Following this announcement, Casualty has been on something of an erratic schedule, with there being a short break from May 2 until May 23, and an ‘inappropriate’ episode was axed.

Now, with filming still on hold, there are no more episodes scheduled for the time being, which means we sadly don’t know when the soap will be returning to out screens…
