Bandit threatens Brisbane bottle shop cashier before fleeing with cash

Police have released confronting security footage of a drive-through bottle shop robbery in Brisbane’s south-west last week in an attempt to identify the bandit.

CCTV footage shows the man, wielding a hammer and a knife, sneak up behind the Durack Tavern attendant shortly before 7pm last Monday.

The man, wearing a black face mask, then forces the attendant to open the till before he scoops the contents into a black bag.

Police said the man dropped some of the cash as he ran out of the drive-through.

The 69-year-old bottle shop attendant was not injured.

Police described the bandit as a white man in his early-to-mid 20s, about 175 centimetres tall and of a proportionate build.

He wore a black face mask, a green cap, a white jumper, long black pants and black Nike sneakers.

Police asked anyone with information, especially those who might have dashcam footage of the King Avenue area at the time of the robbery, to share any potential evidence with investigators on 13 14 44 or through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
