Missing sisters' bodies found dumped in hedge after 'random' knife attack after birthday party, court hears

THE bodies of two missing sisters were found dumped in a hedge after a "random" knife attack following a birthday party in a park, a court heard.

Horrified friends discovered Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, stuffed in a hedgerow in Wembley, northwest London.

Danyal Hussein, 18, is accused of murdering the sisters in a “frenzied” and attack.

A post-mortem examination revealed the women died from multiple stab wounds, the Old Bailey heard today.

Ms Smallman and Ms Henry, who lived in Harrow and Brent respectively, were discovered in Fryent Gardens park by Ms Smallman's boyfriend.

After Ms Henry's birthday picnic came to an end on June 5 the sisters were last heard from at 2.30am the following day.

Joel Smith, prosecuting, described the killings as "an unprovoked and random attack".

He said: “The defendant faces two charges of murder and one of possession an offensive weapon.”

Mr Smith added: “The deceased were lying entwined on the ground.

The deceased were lying entwined on the ground.

“On 5 June this year Ms Henry had arranged a socially distant outdoor party and picnic to celebrate her birthday with a number of friends and members of her family, one of whom was her sister.

“On 7 June a group of concerned friends returned to the park to search for them."

Mr Smith told the court the friends found sunglasses and a blood-stained knife – before the bodies of the sisters were discovered in bushes.

He added: "Miss Smallman had her clothing pushed up, exposing her midriff and multiple stab wounds.

"Miss Henry also had her clothes pulled up over her head exposing friction marks on her stomach."

Hussein was arrested at his home in Blackheath, southeast London, and charged with the murder of the sisters.

Appearing in court via video-link from HMP Wandsworth the defendant spoke to confirm his name.

Hussein  faces two counts of murder and possession of a knife.

He was remanded in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 21 September.

No trial date has been set.
