A shopper filmed the rat invasion at the St Andrews Retail Park. The shocked woman had been in Poundland and said she will report the infestation to authorities
The shopper, who said she planned to report the vermin to authorities, uploaded her phone footage to social media, sparking shocked Hull residents to comment.
One social media user likened the retail park to that of a Bushtucker Trial on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, where contestants have to brave contact with vermin, including rats.
One said simply that the situation was ‘disgusting’.
Another said: ‘What do you expect when idiots sit throwing food at pigeons? It’s been going on for weeks.’
Natalie Bungay, a technical officer at the British Pest Control Association, told The Star: ‘As temperatures begin to drop and food becomes scarce, rats will begin looking for shelter and scraps in more urban locations.
‘And as autumn and winter push on, rats start to head indoors.
‘Rats and mice do not hibernate and are a problem all year round.’
